Thank you for your words Amy. It made me realize that I too am looking at my wounds.

Ha, Sal! I was reflecting later that the fester from my unhealed wounds from these last years bubbled up all through this essay. It's a long road being human. xo

I appreciate this post, Amy. I find it hard to know what to do, living in such a progressive place. In 2016, I was living in a rural, conservative area and got involved in local politics. I don't need to do that in Burlington. The best I can come up with is taking care of my community and myself--doing more to make myself happier and hoping that my happiness radiates out into my community and beyond.

I think some of these answers will come slowly. Knowing your root wishes like this, Carrie, is the heart of the future. I love this.

And play the game. It's hard to know what will happen with state's rights, etc. So, best to imagine in to begin to be ready. So glad to be part of your community xo

Amy, your piece made me wonder what Trish O'Kane is doing with her students. How difficult it must have been to teach the next day.

I recommend Ayana Elizabeth Johnson's book~ What If We Get It Right? Visions of Climate Futures🌱💙🌎

Thanks, Katherine, I will check it out. And I wonder, too. The day in 2016 that I walked into my first class of the day (American Woman taken by juniors and seniors, a pretty even split male and female) was one of the hardest moments I've ever faced. We can all send Trish some light. Hope you're well
